Condolences to my family & to the West Family !!

Last week, our family received news thats has kept us in sorrow. Mama Melin- passed 11/8/07. At 80 she was the head of a huge family and in fair health. Her character was admirable. She was honest, humble and helped the unfortunate in her home Dominican Republic.
If you weren't family and had the joy of meeting her, u feel our pain. Her memory will stay alive in our hearts and her wisdom will be passed to the younger generatons.
Sharing similar Grief! I must mention Kanye West !
On Saturday 11/10/07, Ms West passed due to post surgery complications. The saddest part of all is that two days after her death was her birthday. To me its distrubing and hits really close to home. Kanye has lyrically expressed his love, respect and appreciation for his mother to the world. We could only imagine how much he is suffering.
Both these women were single mothers who took initatives to raise their children the RIGHT way !! Placed no man before their babies. To my family & the West Family stay strong. Its easy to get mad at God and blame him for taking them but in reality God is our savior.
The one thing we're guarannteed on this earth is our death. To all of us this should serve as awarness. IF you're not right and you treat your love one's like crap (the way you treat yourself) then you need to snap out it. For there might still be time to reconnect with your family. Make peace !! Love God and Love Yourself! Make pleasant memories for our younger generations. End the selfishness !

Feelings of enchanment; sneakers, music, & liquor!

Three years ago, we attended our first Sneaker Pimps event in Philadelphia. Custom sneakers covered the walls from top to bottom. At this event you could get a tatoo or watch a live artist turn icy whites into art. The crowd was melow & the beats were early 90s. It was a long ride from nyc to philly but well worth it.
For Rebelaire was wearing diapers at this point and the urge to potty train was enlogged in our brains. Especially, after Peter stopped Nelson & complemented him on his footwear. He was rocking "the purple haze" dunk hi's, his own creation. Months later Sneaker Pimps made its way to NYC. The event was "RIDICULOUS." and has remained HUGE, with hot performers, & way way more ILL sneakers!!!

In Spring of 06' we were vendors at Dunk X Change in nyc. They opted the walls for tables. Tables that were dressed up with exclusive Jordans, Dunks, Af1s and underground brands like Palis, BKC, Sneak Tip; etc. The crowd is allowed to walk in with sneakers of their own to trade or sell. On everyone's thoughts is hu$tling and networking. Its obviou$ why Rebelaire fits right at home with Dunkxchange. The vibe is energetic, the hosts are always entertaining, and best of all people come out with MONEY in there pocket$.
Its great to be part of the events; when the two merge. The best part is to see how huge the crowds are. The sizes of the crowds that come out are always big in different area codes. Its a $eriou$ movement. You dig!
This past October Nas performed 20min + an extra half hour at the Sneaker Pimps/ DunkXchange. We all worked so hard and got the best pay off -- ILLMATIC live. My generation this is LOVE! Nas was humble and expressed how good he felt about standing on that stage with that crowd infront of him. He was told to perform 20 min. good thing he's his own MAN! To everyone who came out!! You guys were fresh to death, lots of you were drunk,
But all of us made history in NEW YORK CITY.

Art made with mad love

Rebelaire was fortunate enough to participate in the 3rd annual Fashion District Arts Festival; held by the Fashion Center. The week long festivities, celebrated artists and crafters who have made their homes alongside famous designers. Visitors were able to walk in artist studios, explore visuals, performances and light installations, or even learned about pottery or printmaking. It was an authentic NY experience; vibrant and full of creativity which attracted thousands of people. "The Fashion District is not only a global center of couture, but it also has emerged as a center of cultural and artistic life," said Barbara Blair Randall, executive director of the Fashion Center BID.
